Matthew Cunliffe Receives Award From Lake Forest College

Lake Forest College hosts its annual Leadership Awards ceremony every spring, where it recognizes outstanding student achievements.

Matthew Cunliffe '13, of Richmond, Kentucky, received the Social Justice Award. This award is presented to a student that has shown a concern for underrepresented groups, and has improved the lives of others with regard to social justice issues. Matthew is the president of PRIDE, a mentor and coordinator for First Connection and participates in the Intercultural Advisory Group. He has also been involved off campus with the Benkadi Project, a small non-profit that aims to educate and provide for the impoverished people of the Republic of Guinea. He'll continue his work there after graduation, helping bring potable water to Guineans in the city of Conakry while teaching unemployed young adults to construct water filters as a business.

Cunliffe is a graduate of Madison Central High School in Richmond, Kentucky.
