Matthew Cunliffe Graduates from Lake Forest College

Matthew Cunliffe of Richmond, KY, graduated from Lake Forest College with a bachelor of arts degree in Asian studies and Independent Scholar Project on the studies of the European Union cum laude. Cunliffe was named to the Dean's List. Cunliffe also received the Senior Prize in Asian Studies and his senior thesis "European Federalism and the Social Welfare States: How Free Movement, Subsidiarity, and the ECB Affect Safety Net Spending in the E.U." was awarded distinction.

Cunliffe was one of the 323 students to graduate from Lake Forest College at Ravinia Festival Park on May 11, 2013. Honorary degree recipient Stephen Schwartz gave an inspiring commencement address about how life is full of many failures and a few successes. He likened the students to be like the children's toy, Weebles, "Weebles wooble but they don't fall down." Cunliffe is a graduate of Madison Central High School in Richmond, KY.
