Allan Arabe Receives Award From Lake Forest College

2013 May 8

Lake Forest College hosts its annual Leadership Awards ceremony every spring, where it recognizes outstanding student achievements.

Allan Arabe '15, of Muntinlupa City, Philippines, received the Make a Difference Award, sponsored by Target Corporation this year. The award is presented to an individual or organization which has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping others and to community service. Allan serves as a regular volunteer for the after school programs in North Chicago elementary schools, helping students with homework and enrichment activities. Allan is also active in a transition group that helps college aged students with mental disabilities focus on social integration and life skills. He states his inspiring philosophy about services as "As long as opportunities present themselves and as long as they are in my capacity to do so, I will try to pay forward the acts of kindness I have received when I was growing up that have helped me land where I am now."

Arabe is a graduate of Li Po Chun United World College in Hong Kong, China.

Lake Forest College is a national liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,500 students representing 47 states and 79 countries. For more information visit www.lakeforest.edu.
